Chap, 34. As Expofition upon the Book, of Jo B. Verf.z 3. 675 admit (inners by any artifices,or delayes, to interrupt the pro- greffe of his juflice. Secondly , The words ( as we render them) carry bothan af- fertion, tbat God is juf',and ademonf'ration of it; For he willnot layupon roanmore then is right, that he fhould enter into judgement with God ; that is, man bath no caufe to enter into judgement with God, if God fhould give him leave, and let himbe at his li- berty in that poynt ; for God will not lay uponman more then ù right. There is another fupply of aword which alto beareth agood , ywn imponet el fenfe, and fuites wel with this expofition ; thus , god will not lay amplino quani uron man more then hecan Beare, ( or loath flrengtb to beare) thatferro polk'r, he fheuld enter intojudgement with him ; if we reade the text fo, Druk then that of the Apoftle (r Cor: io. z 3.) is a cleare expofition of it, There bath no temptation takenyou, but fach as is common to man ; but God isfauthfull , who will not pier you to be tempted, above that you are able , butwill with the temptation al fo make a way to efcape, thatyemay be able to beare it. A temptation or af- fliaion common tornan, is but filch as man may beare ; God will not overburden his people, he knoweth what fieih and blood , as alío what Grace canbeare. As aman would not lay fuch a weight upon a childe, as would burthen aman, (we lay achilds.burthen uponachild, and a mans burthen upon a man) 10 theLord mea- fures and weighs out his judgemenss in proportion to every mans flrength, he will not lay upon him more then he is able tobeare. That's a good fenfe, and hath a cleare reafon in it,whyman fhould not complaine of what God layeth uponhim, is being only, pro- portionate to his f'rength. But I (hall rather profecute the text according to the fupply given in ourtranflation, which makes thereafon whyall fuch com- plaints fhould be forborne and filenced,to be this , becaufe the fufferings of man are never proportion'dbeyond his deferr. He will not layupon man more then right. That is, more then he bath deferved , or is equitable in his cafe ; whatfever is layd, or impofed uponman beyond right , he bath caufe to complaine of, and may traverCe the Judgement, or defire another hearing, yea he mayappeale to force higherJudge if there be any ; But if what is awarded again(' himbe rigor ac- R r r r z cording
