Thus it is ( faith Elihu) in all the dealings of God with man, He will not layupon man more then is right, . that heAmid enter intojudgement with God. 7o, enter ( or goe) into judgement ( as theword is) is either to begin or renew a lute, and to delre the hearing of the caufe a gaine. God makes no faulty Judgemenrs, why then íhould any caufedecermin'd by him come to a fecond bearing ? there may be reafon enough among men to heare a caufe againe, but what God refolves,needs not be reviewedmuch leffe reverfed. Here then Elihu meets with thole frequent complaintsofPk under his af- fiitions, and likewifewith thofe his feverall motions, and earnefi petitions, tohave his caufe heard afrefh, as if God had prefa him too fore, or, at leafi, had not done him right in fuffering him to be fo forelypreft by. men. Thus Elihu feemes to fay ; God nevergave any man anyjut caufe, toplead his caufe over againe with him, nor bath he given thee(QJob)any taufe to delire it of hies:Tis true,car- nall men, yea and fanetimes godlyrnen,when (as Tit here }they are greatly afflicted, are ready to thinke and fay they are over- feverelydealt with;But the reafon of ElehaElands good and drme againfl all thefe thoughts and fayings. For he will net lay upenman more then is right. Hence note. God never wronged, nor will wrong any man, There are two fpeciall cafes, inwhich. Godnever did,nor ever will wrongman; Firfi,i'ie will not wrong man bydenying him,that reward, whichhe hath freely promifed, noman fluff ferve God for naught ; he shall not fay, God bathpromifed, but he bath not performed. The experience of his people feale to the truth of his promife, as wel as their faith imbraceth ir. That hope of man which is anchored in a promife of God , never mifcatrred nor trade any man aíhamed. Secondly, God will not wrong man, by laying upon him a greater punishment then he bath threatned...
