There are feveral readings of this claufe. - Firfi, Some thus, Therefore the Lord knoweth their work', and turneth into night ; that is, he turneth their profperity into adverfity, he bringeth trouble and afflietion upon them ; they li- ved before in a dayof profperity,in a day of power and worldly greatnefs, but he turneth theminto night.
