712 Chap. 34. An Expoftion upon the Bookof f o B. Verf.27. He is as much out with all as with any, they are all alike tohim, that is, he likes none of them ; they would not confider any of hid wayes. He that hateth one truth of God, hateth all truth, though po,lblyhis hatred is not called outor acted again{} forne truths ; and he that hateth one Iaw of God, hateth all his laws, though po(liibly his lulls are not drawn out againa fome of them. The reafonwhy the Apoflle faims faith, (chap. 2. to.) Whofoeverfhat keep the wholeLaw, andyet offend in one point, is guilty of 4, is, becaufe if aman path a mmde tofin againfl one branch of the law, that evilprinciple will carry him to finagainfl anybranch of it : If he be not aopt fromwithout, he findesno flop within againll theworfl of fins, as it is a fin. Fifthly, We tranflate any, the Original wordis [all] his ways, which imports a refufing of every one of his wayes ; there are feveral Scriptures ofa like fence (Pfal. to3. 1, 2.) O- praife the Lord, andforget notall hisbenefits ; that is, forget not any one of his benefits; not that aman (hall be excufed, though he forget many of thebenefits ofGod, or halfhis benefits, if fo be he for- getnot all, or remember force : but when that Scripture faith,for- get not all lies benefits, the meaning is, forget not any one at ali. Thus here, they confiderednot all his wayes, (that's the letter of theText, and foMr Broughton tranflates,) that is, none of thern. Taking that reading, and the Scripture fence givenof it, it gives us this ufeful Obfervation. 'That xnlefs all the wayes ofGod be confidertd andobeyed, there is not any one ofthemconfidered or obeyed. God will not be obeyedbyhalves ; he mutt haveenti,e-obe- dience, ùniverfal obedience, or he owneth none ; there is a band ex tye between all the commandments of God, and unlefs you keep them all, youbreak them all ; they that fubmit not to all, fubmit to noneof his laws. It is not enough for a man to fay he is noadulterer, if he be a thief; or to fay he is not a murderer, if he bears falte witness. He thatdoth the one in act, Both the o- ther in his heart ; nothing hinders himbut theabfence of a tem- ptation, or of an opportunity, the Law doth not. Further, [they] would not confider any of his wayes. Who were they ? No fools I dare fay, either in their own opinion, or in the opinionof . men. Doubtlefs thofe mightymen fpokenof by Eli. km,
