Chap. 36. ei1Ñ Evpofition upon the Ba ookof J 9 s. Verf, 14. 269 is, they Trail perish by the force and violence of that affii uion, Sal. q. d. Ere- which bath arrefied and taken hold cf them. edione et tii. But I conceive our reading is clear, They dye in Youth, becaufe eli6i7ionum in Youth is the mod flirting time of our life, or that time 'of life, pew b'J,0it Whereinwe ufe the moll violent motions without, and are fubj set to the mod violent pail-ions within ; therefore the Hebrew ex- preffeth bothby one word. Nowwhen we fay, They dye in Touth, the meaning is, they dye in the prime, in the bell, in the moil flouri(hing time of their life, in the fpring of their dayes. But is it true, that all hypocrites in heart dye in youth ? Donot many, who difcover therrnelves to be but hypocrites, dye in old age ? I anfwer, Such-like Scriptures do not intend an univerfaiiry, as to every individual ; but only (hew that 'cis fo for the moil parr, or often Co. To die in youth fignifieth any immature death ; or when death cometh fuddainly upon any, they may be faid to die in youth. Thirdly, this dying in youth may refer to the hypocrites un- preparednefs or unfirnefs to die.
