286 Verf. 16. an Expojitic a upon the Book of J o B. Chap. 36^. Full of fatnefs. Fatxefs is put in Scripture ro exprels thebef' of things; it of- ten fîgnifieth the beff of fpiritual things, (Pfal. 36.8.) They (hall beabundantly fatisfted with the fat,.efs of thy houfe. The houle of God is the Church of God, and, God keeps agood houfe, there are fat things, and they who w&rlhip and wait upon him, they (hall have abundance of them,.their full fatisfaaion:the fatnefs of Gods bottle, is the riches of Grace, the bell of Gäfpel-O,dinances and promiles, the beff of Gofpel-comforts and mercies , there are the fatnefs of the houle of God ; thefe are the things which the Apofile intended while he told the Gentiles, Rem. i t. 17. ) That they werepartakers ofthe root and fatnefs oo the O!ive tree. Thus an fpake the Prophet, (Ifa. 25. 6. ) In this mountainfhall the Lord of Hofis make a feat# offat things : what,of fuch fat things as the Epicures of the world furfet upon, Sheep, and Oxen, &c ? no ; the feafi offat things which the Lord will make ro his people is of fpiritual things, they fhall have much of thrift , much of grace here, andan affurance of glory for hereafter; This is the feaft offat things. And though the Lord give to any of his fervants the bread of adverfity, and the water of affliulion , though the fig; tree fhould not bloffome to them, though they (hould have nei- ther Sheep in the fold, nor Calves in the (fall , yet they may daily fir at this feafl of far things, and be filled with joy in the Lord, (Hub. 3. 17, &C. ) And as fatnefs is ufed in Scripture to expreCs thebeff of fpiritu- al things,fo fatnefs expreffeth the bell of natural and outward good things, ( Pfal. 65. t t. ) Thou crownet the year with thy ge®dnefs, and thypaths dropfatnefs; that is, plenty, and plenty of the bell rhings, which grow out of the earth by the bleffing andbenigne in- fluent es of Heaven. I conceive fpiritual good things, the bell of them, are allo fhadowed under thole expreffions of Temporal. Further, Elihudoth nor only fay, That which (hall be fet upon taut mefus- thy Table'hall be fat, but,.full of fatnefs ; vvbich implyeth thus viraéq; vi much. Thou fhalt have whatfcever may make thy lifecomfortable, ver. and ha for as b bread, oudal bread we are to underhand ppy Y' ay y all the neceffaries of this life( though bread be the meaneflpart of our ftlllenance,y7et it it is called theftaf,Ief'hfe, becaufe the moll neceffarypart of it) foby fatnefs, we are to underhand all things delicate
