It is this teaching, as ye may fee (verf. 45.) Every one therefore that bath heard and lem.ned of the Father, cometh unto me. That is, every one whom the Fa- ther bath vouchfafed to teach and initruot, that man cotneth to nie, that is, he believethand obeyech the Gofpel, and fubmicteth both in judgment and praetife. Every one that loath heard and learned ofthe Father csmetb to me : There is not one whom God hack undertaken to teach, that dothmifcarry. (Ifa, 32, ,1) The heart ofthe rafh !,hall eenderfland knowledge ; or, the heart of the hafly. Now hafly and rafh perfons, are heady and inconfide- rate perfons, and thereforenone of the wifeít ; theyufually have little judgment or difcretion,who are much in paflion ; but God canmake the heart ofthe rafh to underflandknowledge; that is, he canmake them underftand and know things at ighr,who feetinmolt uncapable of, and are naturally at the greateft difaance from a rightnefs of knowledge and underftanding. Thoughyou fhouldhavean Angel from heaven to fpeak to you, yet Itay not in his teachings, watt for the teachings of God.Till ye are taught of God ye never learn to purpofe.Secyour felves,notonly as in Gods prefence, but as under his Spirit, to be taught ; wait for the moving of theSpirit in every ordinance, as they did for the Angels moving of the waters, who lay at the Poole of Betbefda for healing(rob. 5.4.) Secondly, SeeingGod teacheth thus paramount, feeing none teach likebim,then fabmit to his teaching. Do not queltion any of his rules of life or do&gins of faith,they are all righteousand full of divine truth ; you cannot do amifs if you do, nor believe amifs if you believe ,no, nor rnifs of blef ednefs in doing and be- lieving what he hath taught.
