Second- ly, the word rendred cometh between, fignifieth an Interceffor, or one that prayeth, as alto an oppofer, who ¡lands op againft and re- lifis the forceof another. Thirdly, theword rendred wife figni- fieth ( when derived from another root) a friend or familiar. Fourthly, the word rendred cartel, fignifieth alto poffeffon, or t hat which is pofleffed, and taken from anotherroot, emulation or flrife. Fifthly, the word which we tranflate as an Adverbe, alfá, fignifieth likewife anger. Sixthly, the word rendred vapour, f g ntheth an afcenfion, or going up ; and fo plants or herbs, which grow out of the ground and afcend into theair according to their growth, are elegantly expreffedby it. All thefe differences found in the tingle tearms, are made tile of by Interpreters, as will appear while I give you a tafle of three different tranflations. Firft, The commonLatine tranflator renders thus, In his hand, hehideth the Light, and commands it is come again ; hefpeakrof it, or declares it to hisfriend, that it is his pofefon, and that be may afcend or come to it.
