The Hebrew ufeth a word there which may be rendred to prepare, to eflablini, or to confirm, neither of which are in him that goeth ; we render it according to the pre- fent text, it is not in hint that goeth to direct hvs ownfteps ; who directs them then ? It is God that directs the Reps of man. It is not in the power of man to direel his <,wta (teps, he is not able ta do it ; and betides that, he bath not the liberty or priviledge to do it, he may not do it, he ought not to do it ; 'cis the duty as well as the fafety of man to leave the direction of his wayes and Reps toGod. ` fis God that directs the Reps of man, yea, the in- ehrect(teps of man are under the mightypower of God ; the very wan- drings of men areunder the guidance of God ; the mot ions, yea commotions, the actions, and the moff difiurbed a Rions of man are under a tnofl certain difpofure and dipolition of God ; when men do theyknow not wbat,ged knows and orders what they do.
