From this latter we may infer, There is mach to he Peen in the Heavens They are a Looking-Glalre which reprefent many things to us, It bath been laid, The whole world is a Looking Glatie, every Secírm +je. Age we five in is a Looking- Glaffe, in which many,both things culun. and perfons,are difcovered : 1 may fay much more, the Heavens re a Looking Glalle , wherein we may behold much of God, and much of our felves. And becaufe the Heavens are called a LookinnGlaffe , it fhould mind us to look upon the Heat ens ; they maymind us, Fir ft , What God is , who bath made the Heavens ( Pfal. t 9. I. ) The Heavens declare the glory of god , and the Firmament fleeweth his handy wore(,. We may fee God by the Heavens ; Firfl, In his nature, that he is lure and holy. He that bath made fuch a pure thing as the Heaven is, howpure is he I There is no dirt in the Sky , no filth in the Heavens, no uncleannefs there ; theduff or filth of this world can get buta little into the air, it cannot reach the Heavens. The purity of God is fuck as may (Flame the purity of the Heavens , and make them blush ; though the Heavensare the purefl part of the world, yet compa- ratively toGod they are impure. This Eliphaz aiferts expref- ly ( Chap. i 5. i 5. ) Behold, he putteth no truf in his Saints, yea, the Heavens are not clean inhisfight. Bildad puts it yet further (('hap. 26. 5.) Tea, theStorrs (which are the moll pure and re- fplendent part of the Heavens )acre not pure in his fight. Secondly, The Heavens are a Glaffe,wherein we may behold the power of God. How unconceiveable is his power, who bath made fuch a Canopie, and fpread irover the heads of all Crea- tures ! And if the vifible Heavens arefo glorious,whatis the Hea- ven of Heavens! The Heaven which we fee, is but the pavement of that which is unfeen. God lath made Inch a Ceding for this Houfe below, as never needed mending, or repaire, he bath fer Inch a Roof upon it as abides all weathers.
