Secondly, That while they laft, or before theyh ave an end, they are medicinal and healthful,they are for our good while they continue uponus, or we in them, Thirdly, (which we have in the Text) we may expet , that as they (hall furely have an end, fo that they will end comfortably. No chafining for the prefent (faith the Apofie, Heb.12. rr.) feemeth, joyous, but grievous ; nevertbelefs, afterwards it yieldeth the peaceablefruits of rigbteonfnefs, unto them which are exercfed thereby. Godwill not only bring our troubles to an end, but he will give us tweet fruit at the end of them, as a recompence for all our troubles. God will not only bring our fafferings to an end, but to fuch anend as will make us gainers by them. Thofe are evendeferable and lovely loffes, which iffue in fuch advanta- gG3. Secondly, In that the Lord gave Job fo great an advance in worldly things, Obferve ; TheLord fometimesgives bù pe,plemuch more of this world, than they defire, or ever looked after. Job was far from praying for fuch an encreafe, he never defired that his earthly fubftance fhould be doubled in his latter end : Indeed, we find him once wifhing that it were with him as in his beginning, but he wifhed not for more (Chap. 29. 2.) 0 that it were withme as in themonths pa.fP, as in the day when the Lord prefervedme, when hie candlefhsned upon my head,and by his light Iwalked throughdarknefs. Job wifhed that he were in asgood a condition as he once had, but he never wifhed that all might be doubled, or that his latter end fhould be more than his begin- ning ; yet the Lord gave himmore, gave him double to his be- ginning, God exceededhis prayers and his wifhes. As the Lord is able todo exceeding abundantly for us, above all that we ask or think (Eph. 3. 2o.) fo he often Both; andufually, therefore, moderates the defiresand askings of his people, as to the things of this world,that he may out-give their askings,and out-do their delires.
