I18 Chap. 38._ an Expofition upon the Bookof J o E . Verf. 1, keep their courte., and flack not at the command of God. o creature difobeys the command of God but man , who of all creatures kath moll reafon , and is moll obliged to obey ir. God never laid of the Sun , O that it had hearkned to my voice ; but the tons of men put him often to fay fo, as he oncedid to lfrarl his ancient people (Pfal.g1.1 3.) How feldome do we keep time with God ! How feldome do we come or go , jut+ at his call ! l have called (faith Wifdome, Prov. r, 24, s 5.) andye refuted, I have flretchedout myhand, and none regarded. God never looked, one day of the year, for the morning, and it came not ; but he bath come three years (as the Parable of the Fig-tree (hews, Luke 13. ) to man , looking for fruit , and bath found none. Will it not flume us, that the !morning is obedient co the com- mand of Gcd, if we are not ? And therefore as the former note was matter of comfort to us, fo this maybe matterof conviction to us , that the morning, that the Sun in the firmament (a livelefscreature) receiving a com- mand , fnould conflantly appear at the time which the Lord ap- points , and that we, whoare living creatures, that we, whoare reafonable creatures, yea, that we,who have not only reafon, but grace (all believers have) fhould not be obedient to, and.obfer- vaut of the Lords command, tocome athis time , to appear at his call ; howmay it caule us tobluff for flume ! The Prophet faith, The Stork to the heavens, the Crane, the Türle, and the Swallow, thefe k now the time oftheir coming they come in their feafon. I may fay allo, the Sun, Moonand Stars, thofe lights in theheavens , know their feafon , and the time of their coming; they obey the command of the Lord, and (lull not we know-the judgement of the Lord , and obferve the appointed times.of our duty ! which toobferve, is as muchour interefi or benefit , as it is our duty. As often as we fee the morning coming according to the command of God, let it provoke us to makehats and not delay, tokeep his commandements. Thirdly, Haft thon commanded the morning ? that is,-the morn- ing light, to come forth ? No, it's'I that have done it. Hence Note zÇe are to acknowledge God as the Commander, yea, as"tbeFor- mer, Waken, andAnther ,of the l;i tat This
