We mayfafely depend up- on God for all, feeing majefly and excellency are his. The Lords prayer by which we are to form, or unto which we fhould con- form all our prayers concludes with this, thine id the kingdom, power and glory; all is chine, and therefore we have great encou- ragement to ask all of thee. Men can give to chofe that ask them, according to the extent of their power. There isa con- fluence orcomprehenfion of ail power in the maje(iy, excellency, and glory of God, and therefore he cangive whatfoever weask. Now, as, that God is thus deckt and arrayed with majefay and excellency, is implied in this Text ; fo 'cis alto implied, that he bath thus deckt himfelf, while he faith coYob, Deck thy felf with majefly and excellency. Hence obferve,Secondly ; The majefiyand excellency, the glory andbeauty of God, are all of and from himfelf, He is the fountain as of his own being, fo of the majefly and excellency,of the glory and beauty of his being ; he decks and arrays himfelf, he is not decked by others. Moralifls fay, honour zs not or refles not in him that is honoured, but in him that honoarethl, . yet here honour is feared in him that is honoured. We honour God, and give glory to him, but we cannot add any honour to him, all is originally in himfelf; he is the beginning without be- ginning of his own majefty. And as Gods majefly is his own, fo of his own putting on ; he borrewech nothing from the creature,. nor needs he any creature to deck him. He is not what others will make him or have him tobe, but what he is,he is of and from .himfelf. Thirdly, Obferve ; Themajefly and gloryof the greatafl among men, i6 thegift d. Deck, thy felfwith majefly, faith God to Job ; but Job could not deck himfelf ; he could not put a clothing of majefly, and excellency, of glory and beauty uponhimfelf.
