642 Chap. 40. An Expofition upon the Bookof Jo B. Verf. 2oä are all at Gods finding. And doth God take care for Behemoths, for Elephants , or, as force determine it, Mippopotames, River- Horfes, and Sea-monffers ? Surely then (as David fpake, Pfal. 4.) Hewill givemeat to them thatfear him, he will ever be mindful of hie Covenant. This Inference bath been made from other paffages in the former Chapter ; I only remind the Reader of it here. TheLord, who provideth mountains of graft, or graft upon the mountains, for Behemoth, bath mountains of provilion for all his faithful fervants. Secondly, Note; Godprovides proportionable foodfor all his creatures. Behemoth isa vafl creature; therefore God bath whole moun- tainsfor him to graze upon, he is not Phut up in a littlepytle or narrow field, he hath large mountains for his Rote; and will not the Lord give proportionable fupplies to his people according to all their needs ? If our needs begreat-, his gore is greater, The worldis mine (faith God, Pfal. so. r 2.) and the fulnefs of it. He that is the fulnefs of all things, and bath in his power, and at his difpofe, the fulnefs of all the world, will not let them, of whom the worldis not worthy, want any thing that is good and expe- dient for them: The mountains and valleys too, yea, defertsand hard rocks, ¡hall bring them forth food Godwill turn Hones in- to bread, and rocks into water, rather than they (half want. As David laid (Pfal. 34. to)) The young Lions (fo I may fay, the Elephants) do lackani War banger; but they thatfeekthe Lord, ¡ball not want any good thing ; that is, Lions and Elephants fhall rather want than they. Surely the mountains bring bim forth food, Whereands' beats of the field play. Thisargues the milde nature and gentlenefs of Behemoth, the Elephant, as was (hewed at the t 5thverle ; he lives upon graft, nor upon iIeal, as Lionsand Bears; he lives upon grafs, and there- fore all the beafsof the field play where the Elephant feeds, for they know he will not eat nor feed upon them , he eats only grafs. Natural Hìftorianstell us, that the beafts feem to rejoyce when they fee the Elephant, becaufe, they know he will not hurt them ; not only do they feed with him to fatisfie hunger, but play and fport for delight.
