Sie * Chap. 41. Expofition upon the3ook,of o B. Verf. 7 Thirdly, Note ; The Lords knowledge is infinite and unerring. He knowech who huh the better, who is in the right: He could tell Elipbaz, and his two friends, that though they had fpoken fome things right, yet not all, nor fo right as job. TheLord (as we fay) cancleave a hair in any controverfie, and tell every one where he isour, whether in opinion or prataife. God is light, and in him io no darknefs at all (t John. z. 5.) Out light is but little, and cis mingled with much darknefs; our light is dark, and will be fo, till we come to that inheritanceamong the Saints in light. But Gods light is all light, altogether light, both concerning things and perlons. Fourthly, What Eliphaz, and his friends fpake, that was not right, concerned Job immediately ; they fpake very glorious things of God our of his cafe : yet the Lord faith not, re have notfpoken of Job the thing that is right, but, rehave not fpoken of me the thing that is right. Hence note ; God taker himfelf concerned in what is fpokenamift, of or con- cerninghis fervants. Jobs friends looked upon themfelves as Rrong witneffes, yea, as great Advocates for God ; and doubclefs, they intended no lefs than a plea for God, in what they fpake to and againli Job ; 'yet bemire they in many things grieved, and in fome things wronged his fetvanc Job, therefore faith God, ye have not fpoken of me the thing that is right. The Lord will fay, in the great day, to the wicked, about their neglei s of duty to his faithful ones, in- as -much as ye did itnot to one of the leafl of thefe, ye did it not to me (Mat. 25. 45.) In-as -much as ye have not fed and cloathed there, ye have not fed nor cloathed me. Now, as the Lord caked'' all the negletsof good to his people, to himleff; fo the Lord takech all that evil which any fpeakof his people, tohimfelf : He (faithGod) thatfpeaketh amifi ofmine, fpeaketh amifi of me. The Lord accounteth himfelf interefied in all that good or evil, which is done and fpoken to his people ; and he is very angry when any thing is mif-fpoken of, or mifapplied to them, chough with refpea tohimfelf, or as a fervice unto himfelf, Fifthly.
