What could Elipbar and his two friends expe&, when the Lord raid, crywrath is kindled, but that his wrath ¡boldhave [wallowed them up,and confumed them in a moment ? Solomon faith (Pray,' 6. i 4;) The wrathof a Icing àe as meffingers of death, and like the rearing of a Lion (Prow. 19, 12.) muchmore is the wrath of God like the roaring of a Lion, and as the meffengers of death. But, though the Lord told yobsfriends of wrath, and of kindled wrath, yet he only, Firff, reproved themmildly ; and, Secondly, inftead of blowing tap that fire, theweth or direð them how to quench it, andget into the Sun-thine of his favour ; as will appear further in the verfe. This verfe holds out the counfel or dire&ion which the Lord gave Eliphaz, and his two friends for the making of their peace, and the reconciling of themfelves to his Majefïy, whole wrath was kindled againft them. And here the Lord dire&s them to a twofold means of their reconciliation. Firff, The cffering up of afacrifice, in which wemay confider two things. Firft, The matter of the facrifice, or what was to be facrificed, Bullocks and Rams.
