Chap. 5. An Expofition upon the Book of J O B. Verf 26. 395 manyof the fervants of God, have been fcattered, and may Be fcattered upon the face of the earth, like dung ; The dead bodies (as the complaint is, Pfal, 79.2.) oftly fervants have they given to be meat to the fowler of the Heavers, theflefh of thy Saints to the brajis of the earth: Yet to them (even then)there is this blaring refèrved, beyond the Melling of a burial, they are ever laid up in the heart of God, he takes care of them, he embalmes them for immortality, when the remains of their mortality, are troden un- der foot, or rot upon a dunghil. Secondly, obferve, A godly man, is a volunteer in hit death ti He cometh to the grave t A wicked man, never dies willingly, Though hefòmetime die by his own hand, yet he never dies with hit own mill. Miferable man is fometimes Co over-preft with ter- tours, and horrours of confcience, fo worne out with the trouble of living, that he hastens hisown death. Yet he,Comes net to the grave rvilringly, but is drag'd by nectffity. He thrufts his life out ofdoores with a violent hand, but it never goesout with a'cheer- full mind. He is often unwilling to live, but he is never willing to de. Death is welcome to him, becaufe life is a burtben to him. Only they come to the grave, who, by faith have Peen Chrift lying in thegrave, and perfutrting that houle of corruption, with his own molt precious body, which law no Corruption. Oblerve thirdly, To live long and to die its a full age is a great bleging. Old Eli had this curie pronounced upon his family, a Sam. 2.31. There £ball not be an old man in thy pouf. Gray haires are a crown of honour, when they are found its the way of righteoufnels. It is indeed infinitely better, to be full of grace, than to be full of daies ; but to be full of daies, and full of grace too, what a venerable fpedacle is that ? To be full of years, and full of faith, full of good works, full of the fruits of righteoufnefs, which are by Chrift. How comely and beautiful, beyond all thebeauty and comelinefs of youth, is that ? Such are truly faid to have filled their daies. Thole dales are fill'd indeed, which are full of goodnefs When a wicked man dies, he ever dies emptie and hungrier hedies empty of goodnefs, and he dies hun-, gry after daies; That place before mentioned of Abraham(Gen. 25. 8.) is molt worthy our fecond thoughts, He died in a.goodold age, an oldman, andfull, fo the Hebrew, we read, fulofyears , As a man that hatheaten and drunk plenfifitlly,is full; and delres no E e e a more
