Contrary to thename of God, He is called Holy ; and contrary to the nature of God, He is the holy One. And in this we fee the reafn, whyGod hates fin; with ape,feahatred ; man hates that, which is contrary to his nature, and contrary to his name. And in this alto we fee, the reafon, why God is fuch a fevere avenger of fin, He is the holy One: Can he (t hink you) take part with, or fpare that which is contrary to himfelf? Sin, lekicidium as much as in it Beth, puts God out ttf the world, therefore fn is called God murther, as being that, which would murther God ; Sinwould not allow hima being in the world, whogave the world its being. Sin (in the nature ofit) is, the unholy thing, and God is The holy One; Thefe two muti contend for ever : fo far as things or perlons are unholy, theydire Iy !hike at the Beingof God ; Sin wouldput down all ruleandall dominion, but its own. Some of the prophane wretched Jews, derided and blafphemed God, under this title ; the Prophet had long tkreatned judgment, and had told them,that the holyGod would be avengedofthem for their filthinefs and prophanefs, for their hypocrite and idolatry. Laftly, hence we learn, Why none can fee God, why none have any fitnefs for communion with God, but holy Ones, holy perlons ; the reafon is, becaufe God is the holy One.
