The thoughts of God are fodeep, that the Apoftle ( with amixture of amazement andadoration ) cries our, 0 the depth (Rom.ai.33. ) Secondly, The deep things of God are his word,containing eitherDo&rines tobe believcd,or Prophefies to be fulfilled. The word of God hath its (hallows, and it hath its depths : there a Lamb may wade, and there an Elephant may fwim. Secondiy,There art deep thingsof men; which areof divers forts. i. His word is deep. Though the wordsof molt men float up- on their tongues, yet Solomon affures us that, thewords of amans (that is, as theword imports, ofan excellent mans) mouth are as deep waters (Prov.i8.4.)
