Man's being in this life, it is not only changeable, but de- terminable. God is an eternal Being, he is from everlasting to everlafting. We are fhort- breathed, íhort-lived creatures, if we number three or fourfcore years, we are counted wondrous old; and when wehave numbred all our years they are no number at all to the years of God. 5. Man's being is but a particular being :. the Being of God is an univerfal Being ; he is a Being in all things,and yet not inclu- ded in any,; a Beingwithoutall things, and yet not excluded from any. 6; Man'sbeing is fuch as man may còmprehend ; one man can . meafure another. Noman bath any fuch excellency in him,but another may be found to take the length,and breadth, and depth of it, even all its dimenfìons. But Gods Being is an incompre- henfbleBeing, thereis no meafuring, either ofhis nature,ofhis counfels, orofhis wayes. 7. The Being. of God is an abfolute perfeaBeing.Man's being is refpeetive and imperfea; though it be perfea in its kind, as fuch a creature, yet it is not perfe t in all kinds : Somewhat may be taken from man and added to him, and be a man ¡till but God is fo perfect that nothing can be added to or taken from him, all things are laid up in him : He is the fum and comÇre- henfion of all thofe excellencies which are fcattered in the crea- ture, and he infinitely excels them all. The refult of all thefe is excellency.God bath not only a being as we have,but arrexcellency, a glory in his Being above all other beings:the being ofthe creature is no being,we arebut Nonenti- ties compared with God.
