.hap, i 3, 1nExpoftion upon the Book of JOB. Verf. i 5. Lord exalted over all ?Surely ifhe be not trufled by us,we thall.be confumed by him, a fire will proceed from him to devour the talleil Cedars that either diftrufl or donot trufl in him. Fourthly, To will God is anhighhonour dons ,to God, Trutt is a great part of divine worfhip. It is natural worfh p, the verydifcoveries of God unto us, though he fhould never ma- nifell his will c mnceruing this art, call for this. When it is difco- veted to us ( which the word every where cloth) that God is above all, that he is all-fuffiCient, that he is unchangeable, there very difcoveries though there were never a rule for it in all the word of God, would teach us to trufl upon God. There are Lorne parts of Gods worfhip which we should never haveknown if he had not given us a direaand exprefs rule for them, Such is all his inilituted worfhip ; The fpecial forms of worfhip depend upon the revealed will of God, but the general worfhip of God (fuch as to love him, to fear him, to mill Upon him), flow from the manifetlations of his, nature, or from his very being. . This is the nature of that truft which is the honour of God; and his natural worfhip, as natural, is, oppofed to fpecial and inilituted worfhip. Fifthly, Obferve, A believer jeeth God good to him, or .afriend to him, when here ceiveth nothing but.evil from his hand, and fees nothing butfrowns upon his face. 7hough he flay me,yet will 1 troll inhim; There is no man will truil a profeffed enemy at all, nor a reconciled enemy much therefore fobdid not think God an enemy, thoughhe flew him; fòrafmuch as he refolved to truft him, though he flew him. No man will trutt him that hë fufpefls to hate him ; A godly man hash good thoughts of God, let him be doing what he will with h m. WhenGo'd put 4braham upon that hard task to flay his fon, he yet knew that God loved him, and therefore he was willing to do it; and he would truit God for that fon, of which the.promife of God faid he íhould live, though the command of God 439
