And no marvaile iffuc') be the carriage of man to man ; when man carries it thus to God himfelfe. Every fin we commit againíl God, is a tranfgreffion not only of the law of holines; but of the law of love and kindnes. The Apoftle cloth moll fignificantly put thefe two together, untha 'okfull, un- holy( z Tim.3. z.) Seing every a& of unholineffe hath much enthankfulneffe in it. We are dwellers in Gods bode. The whole world is Gods houfe ; he bath fet up this great fabrick, yet to how many that dwell in this houle, isGod a firanger, and an alien in their fight ? they live without God in the world. Yea there are many that dwell in Gods more fpeciall houle the vifibleChurch, who yet count God as a ¡ranger, or at leaft have little acquaintanae with him. Many profeffe thename of God, who knownot what it is to converfe with God. And they who know what it is, are yet fo flow and feldoffne in it, that the-Lord may juftly fay, You that dwell in my houfe count me a ifranger. Wehave all our accommodations in the houleof God, he feeds and provides for our bodies in his common houfe the world ; And in his fpirituall houle the Church, he feeds andmakes provifion for our foules, and yet(in a great mea- fiure )we are as firangers to him, and give the Lord caufe to be a firanger unto us.
