The Apoftles being threatned, anfwer, We cannot but fpeake the things which we have heard and teen. Faith is like the oynt- ment in the right hand, which bewrayeth it felfe ; and as it is an evidence to the foule that bath it, of thofe things which are not Peen corporally or naturally, fo it will give an evidence to others of thofe things which it felfe bath feen fpiritu- ally. Theway to overcome all the evills and troubles in theworld, is, to fay, I beleeve ; Faith is our viítory (1 ?oh. 5. 4. ) Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that beleeveth that Chrifi is the only begotten Son of god ; He that beleeves overcomes. The pro- feflion and holding out ofour faith, is oura &ua1l conqueft and victorÿ over the world. Faith is our Shield, whereby we quench all the fierydarts of the wicked, whether menor Devills. Faith lead- eth us to a fountains of living waters, which at once refrefheth us, and puts out that fire.
