38e) Chap. 19 . An Expofibion upon the Booke of JO B. Verf. 27. Hencenote. In heaven Saintsfhall have their interef in god eleare, undcu6- tedly (hare to them for ever. It is the hufines of faith now to believe in God for our felves; to take Chrift for our felves. But though this be the worke of faith, yet faith cannot alwayes reach to ir, or read its owne evi- dences by it. There may be true faith, and yet no fight ofChrift for our felves ; wemay fee him, and yet feare we have no inte- ref} in him. Come to Saints under temptation, or in times of differtion, and tell them of mercic, and free grace brought in by Chrift the Redeemer ; they anfwer, yes, they believe that it is fo, Chrift is the Saviour, grace isfree, mercie enduretb for ere ; but what's all this to them ? They fee this by faith in the ge c- raft promife made to (inners, but they fee not this for t .em- felves, nor can they makeout their (hare in it ; yea po(lïb they fee God angry; they fee him indeed, but not for them ves, but as an adverfary to them, or departed from than',"his face is hid, and they doubt whether he , Bile it againe to- wards them. Saints in this life are in a happy condition aboveall people in the world ; but they metre with many rubs in the making out, and evidencing of their happines : but in heaven the favourofGod (hall ever be in fight, we (hall fee him continually for our felves. fob Paid in this hooke ;Thou holdefi me for thine enemie. He found God againft him, and dealing with him as ifhebated him : but his faith re. covered to the highefi pitch, I'hall feeGod, and he will never a t as an adverfary any more. God will not fo much as perfo- nate an enemie in heaven, though here he finites and wounds his beloved onedpven with the wounds ofan enemy ;but there's nothingbut fmiles and embraces in glory ; Whom I (hall feefor ray fcife.
