Mr. Broughton tranflation feemes to hold out this meaning, All darkneffefhall be hidupfor bie fiore; and he puts in the margine,for his(lore of ; he bath fecretly layd up a flock and ftoreoffin ; which Bock and Bore offin is anfwered with all manner ofdarkneffe, with a flock and ftore ofpunifhment. This fence hath occurred in divers paffagesp therefore I will onely name the obfervation. The darkoeefe of fin bringethdarkneffe o f forrow. They who lay up ftoreof iniquitie in fecret, (hall one time or other fiá,de a ftore ofmifery layd up for them. Ifwe hide fin and provide fecret places forit, God will hide darkneffe for us inour moft fecret places. They who (when light comes towards them) love darkneffe more then light,fhall be Pure tomeete with dark- neffe, where theymoft expected light. vi fire not blowne /hall confume him. What is this fire not blowne ? This circumlocution fpeakes more then ordinary fire ; we ordinarily make fires by blowing ; but this is A fire not blowne. There aredivers apprehenfions about this fire. Firft, A fire not blowne, is expoundedby fome, metaphori- rally, ofa fire in theconfcience ; Many a wicked man finds fire inhis bofome ; an evil! confcience is like a flaming furnace, much worfe then 2Cebuchadnezzarsfurnace of fire when heated leven times more then ordinary.
