The third argument, by which he craves attention, is from the principal! objet, whom his difcourfe and complaint con- cerned, verf. 4. /la for me, it my complain t to man, &c. The fourth argument is from the greatneffe ofhis prefent forrows, great enough they were to work .aftonifhment,there- fore Purely great enough to deferve attention , (verf. 5. ) Markmeand be affonifhed, and layyour handuponyour mouth. And (verf. 6.) he tels them, that the very remembrance of them did terrifichim, and that his flefh did tremble, while he, thought of the difpenfations ofGod tohim; therefore the mat- ter was notlight, orunworthy ofa hearing. Further, As in the Preface, he challengeth attention towhat he had to fay, upon thefe foure grounds, fo likewife he clofely reprehends what his friends had alreadie done, and that in three things. Firft, He reprehends them for not having given him a due hbertie of fpeech, (verf. 3.) Suffer me that I may fpea(; Asif he d faid, Ye have cut mecffheretofore ,andinturruptedme, no freer me tofpakk. While he begs this at theirhands,he in- timates,that as yet he had been denied it,or thatit hadnot been granted him with Poch freedome ashis cafe anddatecalled for. Secondly, He reprehends them as having mocked him when he fpake, or as having flighted himwhenhe anfwered ; that is implyed in the doleof the the third verfe ; After that Ihave fpoken, mockon. While he faith,áck on, he chargeth them that they hadmocked alrealie : no man can proceed or conti- nue to doe that which he had not done before. To fay,.mock on, is to reprove them for mocking. Thirdly, He reproves or reprehends them, as not having been duly affeted, nor touched with what had touched him, with what he had both fpoken, and felt r they were infer"- cible of his condition,& regardlesof hisdifcourfe.He implyeth that (ver. 5.) whenhe faith, Markme, Andbe affonifhed.
