I will give you an acquittance and dif. charge for all the confolations youowe me, ifI may now at laft have a morerefpe &full and friendly hearing. Heare diligently my(peech, and this ¡hall beyour confolations. Hence note; firft, 'Tts co comfort to any man, es` ecially toa man inali?liEli- on, to be diligently andpatiently beard. The affli&ed should heare words ofcomfort, and 'cis a com. fort to the afflifted when their words are heard. Firft, When their words ofpetition, or their prayer- fpeech , is heard by God, that's confolation indeed. And 'cis not-mall comfort, when their prayer- fpeech or petitionsare heard by man. If a poore dittre(fed creature pus up his petition to a man in power , and canbut get it received, and heard, he re- joyceth ; my petition is heard (faith he) fomewhat will be done upon it. Secondly, The afflifted take comfort when their counfell and advice, when their opinion in any cafe, or their pleadings in their owne are heard. As it is a multitude ofconfolations to the afflifted when God heares them ( all confolations are wrapped up in that one) fo many and very great confolations, yea poilibly all the confolations which a man defireth ofman, May be found in this, ifhe will but heare what he hath to fay Kkkk for
