So that to delight our felves in the All- mighty, bath thefe two things in it. Fïrít, A fuitablenef e in our foules to the Lord. Secondly, The foules refle&ing upon the Lord as good and gracious unto us. T his refle& a& breeds and brings in delight, o nd works the heart to anunfpeakeable joy in God. By this lait and highefi a& of faith, we take in the fweetneffe of the Almigh- ty, and delight our felves in himm;ghtile.This faith doth not on- ly fuck the promifes, wherein the loveofGod is evidenced tous, but is it felfe an evidence of the love ofGod to us. we fucks and are fatiified with thebreaf#.r of conflation by believing( if66. Thus fpirituall delight is madeup; and therefore Saints are laid to re- joice in beleeving, with joy unfpeakableand full ofglory (i Pet. a. ó ) that is, saving as much and es cleave a manifeftation, yea par- ticipation and raft of that Glory in beleeving, which is prepared and referved for them againft the next life, as they are capable to receive, and more then they are able to expreffe,in this life.Them Jhuít thoudelight thyfelfin the Allmigbty,We may look upon the words first asa command ; and then obferve, That, it is our duty to delight ourfelvei in ged. Delight in God, is both a priviledge and aduty,it is command- ed in the Law, and is is promised in the Gofpel. God is pleated to giveus many things in the world, not onely for necefliity, but for delight, A heathen looking upon the various provifions which the Great Creatorhath made, not only for themaintenanceof man in his being, but for-his comfortable and pleafurable being. Some ofwhich affe& the fences, the eye, the ear, the rafle, &c. others are fweetly contentfull to the understanding, with all the faculties
