In thesetwo verfes lob profeffeth that he had done fo ; that he had kept dole to God followed him ftep by ftep, that he hadnot declined, or turned back, and that he had done all this out of pure love to the word. So that each member of this context feems to carry a dire anfwer to every member ofthat counsel which Eli- phazhad there given him; As firft, to that of Eliphaz, Acquaint thy felfe with god,(he faith) Ihave heldhie fteps.That man rakes and holds neereacquaintance withanother, of whom it maybe affirmed, that he treads in or holds his very Peps. Again, Eliphaz advised lob thus ; Receive the law at his mouth ; 7o1, answers, I have not gonebackfrom the commandement of his lips, &c. Or thus; Firft, He that takes bold ofthe flops ofGod, acquaints himfelfe with God. Secondly, He that keeps the wayof God and declines not from it, if at peace with rod. Thirdly, He that goeth not backfrom the commandement of bis lips, receives the Law at his mouth, Fourthly, He that efteemetb the wordof God more then his ne- ceffary food, bath furely laid up the word of God in his heart. lob profeffeth in thefe two verfes that he had done all this, and therefore he had already donewhat ,Eliphazprefleth him to doe.
