When lob faith,Seeing times arenot hidden from the Almighty, his meaning is, that times are clearly and fully known to the Al- mighty. And fo the argument may be formed in this man- ner. Such at know Cod, /hould know hie dayes, ifany know them. Rut they that know God, d,e not know bis dayes ; therefore God keepes his dayes dole to himfelfe; fo that whereas Eliphaz fup- pored lob as doubting the providence ofGod (Cbap.zz.ver i z, 1 3,14.) and asks the queftion, ver. t 3th, Haß thou marked the old way, which wickedmen have troden. fob anfwers here, I deny not the providenceofGod,but I deny that all the waves ofGods dealing with wicked men, are obvious to the eye ofGodly men, andPhewme reafon:ifyou can, feting God knoweth all times, why the way ofhis judgments are fo little vifibie to them which know him. But who are they that are defcribed by this circumlocution, They (or the men) that know God ? We may take them in a twofold notion. Fire, More Generally for all godly men, for all who are tru- ly fuck knowGod. Secordly,More fpecially for thofe Godly menwho knowGod more then others; there are fome who havea peculiar knowledge of him,and dayly intimacy with him,who live as it were in his bo- lome, and feewhat is in his breasts, comparatively toothers.
