Light makes manifeff : the word of God (as the Apottle (peaks, Hfb. 4. az.) is a difcerner of the thouzhts and intents of the heart, it difcovers that tous, not only in others but in our (elves, which we law not before ; we are much if not altogether, unknoune to our felves, till we fee our leaves in the Glaffe of Word. Hence ob'erve. Secondly, The light oftruth is Cloathed with Authority, the truths ofGod havea Soveraigntyover man. We cannot be laid to rebell againft any thing but that which bath power and authority over us ; a man may oppofe and con- tend with his equal!, but he cannot be faid to rebell againft his evall ; we rebell onely againft thole that are above us. If a eq,d oppofeth his father, it is rebellion; ifa fervant oppofeth his Mait r,it is rebellion, becaufe fathers and matters have authority over their children and fervants.
