Secondly, that the waters have a nature( pro- pentien to returne back and cover the earth againe. Thirdly, that the onely reafon why they doe not returne backe and cover the whole earth, is, becaufe God bath jet a bound,rhae they can- not paffe. They would be boundleffe and know no limits,cid not God bound and limit them.Wddome giveth us the like Elogium of the power ofGod in this (Tn. 8. a9) Hegave to the Sea bra decree, that the waters fhould not paffe bra c-mmandew.cnt. What cannot be command, who fendeth his commandement to the Sea and is obeyed ? Some great Princes heated with rege and and drunken with pride,have cart (hackles into the Sea as threat- ning it with imprifonment and bondage if it would not be quiet, but the Sea would not be bound by them ; They have allo a- warded fo many ftroakes to be given the Sea as a punifhment of its contumacy and rebellion again(( either their commands or their detignes. Flow ridiculoufly ambitious have they been,who wouldneeds pretend to loch a Dominion ?Many Princes have had great power at and upon the Sea,but there was never any Prince bad any power over theSea; That's a flower belonging to no Crown, but the Crownof heaven. There are two things which are more peculiarly under the command ofGod,firft,the waves of the Sea, (econdly,the heart ofman. And becaufe God is able to rule the waves of the Settitake two or three inferences from it; Thus, Firft, That he is able to rule and command the heart of man, Shcovten makes the paralel in this (P o. 2/. r) The kings heart id in the band of the L;rd,as the rivers of waters:he turneth it whe- ther foever be will.
