2.72 Chap. 28. Aoo Expofeion upon the Book, of J o B. Verf. 14; heart ; that ú, thewordoffaithwhich we preach. We need not make to many difficulties in this matter, when God bath made it plain and eafie ; As the tame Apoßle (huts up this di;courfe, (v, r 7, a 8.) So then, faith comer by hearing and hearing by the word of God. Bat,l'fay,have they not heard ? 7 e verily theirfound went into all theearth : and their words unto the ends ofthe world. The Gofpel of atilt , or Chrift in the Gofpel , like the Sun ( fpoken of by David, Pfal. 19. 5.) bath caft his beautiful and glorious beames all the world over. What the Píalmiít fpake of the creatures, that the Apoftle attributes to the Evangelifts or Preachers of the Gofpel;becaufeby them the nameof Cbrift, and falvarion in his Name, was publiflred all the world over, accord- ing to that command of Chritt left with them at his departure (Math. 28. 19.) Got, teach all Nations. And (Mark ( 6. as,) Geye into all the World, and preach the Gofpel unto every creature. This command the Apofilcs faithfully performed, dividing them- felves into the feveral quarters of the World for the fpeedy per- forming of this fervice,the carrying of the light of the Gofpel as the Sun doth his light unto all the nations of the earth.For indeed the Apoftle( to note that by the way)doth not properly cite that of the Pfalmitt,but onlyallude to it. And therefore,he dothnot fay, ar it is written, which he ufeth to doe, when he alledgeth aproof our of the old Te(tamenr, but only takes up the words of the Pfalm, and accommodates them to thepoint he was upon. As if he had faid ; if the voice of the Heavens be gone through the world, whynot the voice of Chri(t in the Gofpel, or how much more the voice of Chtift, and the light of Chrìft, the Sun of righ- teoufnefs in the Gofpel , which doth much more declare the glory of God, then the Sun and Moon in the heavens. But to comecg from this and rerurn.It cannot but be granted that God bath not denyed us the knowledge of thofe things which makeus wife ro falvarion , and bath filmed us where that knowledge is to be found : though there is awifdom, of which job faith, where (Ball wifdombe found ? And as 3. b bath already (hewed, that there is no place among men where that wifdom of God is to be found ; fo, he (heweth in thewords following, that there is no pt ice in the handof man by which that wifdom can be purchafed, Verf. 15.;
