Chap. 28. e ín expoftion upon the Book of J o B. Verf.l 9. sS S and ornament, for our content, and delight, is fo often imployed in the fervice of lull, and hung out as a flag of pride and vain oftcntation. How often is cur table our fnare ? How often doe thóie things which (in their original ccnftitutión) were for our good, become to us an occafion of falling ? How fad is it that man should difhonour God wìrh that, which there was no reafon ( as to us) why God made ir, but for the honour of man ? How fad is it, that we fhould greive and burden God with that, which there was no reafon (as co us) why God made it, but for our de- light and ornament ? Oungrateful man, who thus requites the bounty and munificence of God l Sevcnchly, Obferve; The heft andmoll precious things in this world, Çold and Silver, Pcaries and precious hones, are not comparable to divine wif- dom. That wifdom inand by which all things were made, mufi needs be better then all things that are made. That wifdom whichor- ders and governs the whole world, muff needs bebetter then the beffi things of the world under its order and government. The ve- ry name of wifdom founds high, nor doth any thing fee man fo high in the efieem of thofe who are wife, as true wifdom doth. Thewifdom of man in a right adminiftration of jullice and humane affaires, is more excellent then Gold. Yea, Solomon preferrs the wifdom of a vercuous woman in ordering her family beyond the rareff Jewels, (Prov. 31. i o.) Who can find a vertuotes woman, for her price is far above Rubies; And why?He census (v. r r, i z.) The heart of her husband dock fafely craft in ber,fo that hefball have no need offpoyle, ¡he will doehimgood andnot evill all the dayes of ber life ; (he feeketbwool andflax, and worketh willingly with her bandy. And if the wifdomof a woman discovered and exercifcd in the difcreetand indufliious government ofher houfhold,is to be valued above Rubies, how glorious is the wifdom of God in Governing his Great Houle and Houfhold, The whole World ? And if the wifdom by which God orders _ the motions of this world , excellethGold and°.Silver and preciousBones, thenhow excellent is that wifdomof God which he infufes intoman for the dueordering of his heart and life in holinefsand righreoufnefs, of which Job fpeaks at the lati verfc of this Chapter g Hornmuch is
