Chap. 2 8. an Expo fition repon the Book of Jo B. Verf. 27. 34 t were written, wbich in continuance were fafhioned; when asyet there was none ofthem. God had (as it were) a fcheam of all the limbs and lineaments of mans body, before bisbody was, before there was any one bone joynt or member, the whole was in the know- ledge of God. And may we not fpeak thus alCo concerning the whole body of humane affaires, and divine providences ? The fub- fiance of all there great things is not hid fromGod, when men are forming them in fecret.Tbereis a clofe contriveing andfalbi. oning of matters in thebrainof man ; there is,as a conceiving, fo afhaping up of thisbody of a&ions, and the other body of acti- ons , the fubfiance of all which is not hid fromGod, when as yet there is nothing of them appearing above-board unto men. The Prophet (Ifa. 29. is.)denounceth awoeunto them that dig deep to bide their councell from God, and their works are in the dark, and they fay, who feeth us ? who knoweth tee ? But the Lord Teeth both the fubflance and the circumflances of their workes even while they are imperfe&; he feeth but when not only ehen they come forth falbioned and made up, y unpolitbt, yea, God feeth them not only when they are imperfe& in the heads and.hearts of men, but even before they come into their heads or hearts : when as yet therewas no fuch.thing in dn. remotely imagination of man, he law them in all their íhapes and colours and compleateft conflitutions. For the dome of thispoint, wemaynote five properties of this fight of God. Firfl, it is intelle&ual, as God cannot be feen, fo hefeeth not with bodily eyes. Secondly, This fight is full andperfe&, he bath not a glitzpre or glimmering reprefcntation of things , he feeth not darkly as in aglafs, but face toface, the face of every thing comes before his face. M wecan fee only the back-parts of God,fo we ufually fee no more but the back parts of chafe things which are done by men ; yea our fight is often deceived, and we think to fee that which indeed we fee not : but the fight of God is infallible, he feeth every thing(without erreur) asit is Thirdly, this fight is univerfal : Gods fight is not bounded by any obje&, it reacheth all things, not only , , the fmalefl, not only the fall of a Prince, but of a fparrow on the ground (Math. o. 29,) not only things racer at hand, but things afar
