4/6 Chap. 29. vin Exfofition ¡Ion the Book ofJ O D. Verf. 2; haft mademe drirkof the Rivers of thy pleafures. But now alas, 1 am in a dry and thirfly land, where none of thofe heavenly waters ars. Thus Chrifi told his Difciples, who then had the priviledge to be filled daily with his perfonal prefence ; the days winsome, whenye (hall defire tofee one of the days oftheSon ofman, andye(hall not fee it (Luke 17. zz. ) There days of the Son of man, were the days of his bodily converse with them, in preaching, ad- monithing, infaru&ing and comforting them. As if he had Paid, now ye have many of thofe days, and are not muchaf%&ed with them, nor improve them to your utmofcadvantage, but the time (hall come when one of thofe days would be a welcome day, and you blaming your former negle& and unbeleif, will cry our, earnefily,Ochat it were with us as in the Months paft, when we en- joyed the pretence of our dear Lord and Matter Jefus Christ The children of Ifrael being in the wildernefs, faid,we remember the fle(h-pots of Egypt, the Garlicke and the Onions ;.yet when . they were in Egypt they cried out of their hard bondage. Secondly, Obferve ; There it nothing in thin world but isfubjett to change. It may loonnotbe with you, Hit was witb, you a few months pat+ , whether for fpirituals, or for temporels ; poflìbly tomor- rowyou may have caufe enough to fay, O that it were with tan, as it was baitycflerday. Boat not of to morrow (faith Solomon, Pro. 27. e.) for thou knoweft not what a day maybring forth. This proverb is their reproof who contemn providence, promifag to themfelves not only many days in theworld, but the attaining of their own ends andproje6ts,as if they had theworld in a firing, and living without any fence either of their own frailty or of the creatures uncertainty.
