Likewife alto thefe filthy dreamers defile thefiefh, defpife Dominions, and fpeak evil of Dignities. We mull have liberty and freedome ( fay they) why should we be under, and others above ? Thefe a: e filthy dreatiiers, they fpcak for liberty, but in- deed it is for licentioufneffe : They would do what them(Ives pleafe, not what is pleafing to God. Behold in the glaRe of one Scripture, the woful and deformed face of things, where either there are no Magiflrates, or none that know how to adminìfier ju- flice according tothe dutyof their place (I fa. 3. t, 2, 3, 4, 5. ) where the Prophet threatensthat the Lord will take away from 7ertofalem and from Judah, the flay and thefieff: Whit flay, and what Raffe ? He fpeaks of a twofold flay and Raffe : firfi, the natural Ray and Raffe ; Secondly, the civil flay and flaffe ; yea, there is altoa third mentioned, even the fpiritual flay and Raffe. Firff, Ho will take away bread and water, which are the flay and flaffe of natural life. Secondly, He will take away Magiflrates and other Minigers of Rate, who are the flay and Raffe of a civil life. The mighty man, and the man ofwar, the Tudg and the Pro- phet, and the Prudent, And the Ancient, &c. I will break chafe (faith God) I will take away all Orders of men from them ; I will leave them none to go into theafield to fight for them, none to go to the Gate to judg for them. What then ? 1 will giveChil- dren to be their Princes,and Babes (hall rule over them ; that is,they that are in places of power, whetter for peace or war, fliall be as fit for ir, as babes are to lead an Army; and martial a barrel, or as children are to fit in Judgment-, and give fenrence in weigh - tieR matters. And what will become of a Nation in this cafe ? the fifth verfe tells us ; And the people (hall be oppreffed every one by another, and every man by his neighbour.
