And .when Magifirates work thus, when they deliver thole that have none to help them, none that either can or will help them, then they work glorioufly, then they work like God hire felf. To help thole that are able to help themCelves, or have many helpers, is toad like men, but to help thole that have none to help; this, this is to ad like God. Corrupt Magiflaces love ro have to doe with the fat cattle, with thole that yield profit and prefent re ward. Thirdly, thofe who cannot call them to account if they bum. deny them juflice : They need not fear them, therefore they care notto right them : Theydoe juflice only becaufe they dare not doe otherwife ; notbecaufe they either love todoe ir, or becaufe 'cis their duty to doe it VVhat Solomon oblerved in his time bath been experienced in all times (Ecc... 4. r.) So 1 returned, and vonfdered the opprefsions that are done under the Sun , and behold the tears offuch as are oppreffed, and there was no comforter ; and on the fde oftheir oppref fors, there was no power, but they had no com- forter ; not a'Magi(íratethat would comfort them, not a man in -power would .take their part, oppreffors were flrong, and they were firengchned; the oppreffed were weak, and theylwere de- ferted, or left to fhift for themfelves, to fink or fwim in their weaknefs.
