Gods ri- Soareéiio ea fingup is but the manifestationof his purpose, and the aftuating teerf, taro r of his power. Thus Mofes prayed and thus the Church of the ;,111;171. Jewes was taught to pray at the removing of the Arke ( Plumb. 6g, JO. 35. `Pfál. 68. I.) Rife upLord ( d Aa; es ) and let thine enemies befeatured. Let God arije (laid the Church) let hie ene- mies bePattered ; let them alto that hate him flee before him. The very citing ofGod is the fall and fl ght ofhis enemies. Who can stand when he rifeth? What elfe then is his riling but the exertion or putting forth ofhis great power ? And therefore had rea- fon enough to put this trembling queftion , what bold I doe when god rifetb up ? e/Indwhen be vifîteth; what Aid Ianfiser ? To vifit is taken three wayes in Scripture. Thirdly, To vifit is the worke of any fuperior, when he rec- kons with or calls thofe to account, who are under his charge and infpe &ion. Thus the founders of Collegges and Hofpitalls appoynt vifitors to enquire how the ftatutes and rules of thole Societies are obferved, how their Revenues are difpofed and how the Officers and Governoursof themhave difcharged their truft, and performed their duties. The vilitation here fpokenof is directly this third and confequentially the fecund. As if lob K k k had
