Chap. 3 t. An Expofition upon the Book of j ß B. Vert, 15. 443 cart dowse pride in eyther. And ifthere be a blot or a difpro- portionofparts in the compofure ofthe body, yet king it comes by the hand of God, doe not murmur, be not difcontent. woe to him that firivethwithhis Maker, 'ball the clay fay to him that fa- Jhioneth it, what maker thou ? (Ifa. 45.9. ) This argument both the Prophet and the Apottle after him ( Rem. g. 20.) makes ufe ofto a higher purpofe. The former to quiet the murmuringsof men againft Cods prefent providential' difpenfations. The latter to flop all difputes & quarrellings about his eternal purport's and decrees in.difpofing of men according to the foveraigne plea- lureofhis ownewill. And if this argument be enough to allay eyther ofthofe murmurings and difputes , howmuch more chore difcontents and impatiencieswhich [tire in and breake out from fome, becaufe their bodyes arenot better fafhioned and more mo- del'd to their oneminde. Secondly, If we are all madebyGod, and madeas much now by him as at the ffrft, takeheed ofperverting his merke by putting that which loe barbmade to ferve him , to ferve again,ft him. Our bodyes are of him, therefore they thould be to him. The Apoítle chargeth us ( Or. 6.20.) to glorifie God in our body and in our fpirit, which are Gods by purchafe or redemption : Our bo- dyesallo are his by creation or formation, upon which account we are likewifebound to Glorifiehim by and in them. It is un- comely to ufe or employ any thing contrary to the end or ufe for which it was made. And it is not only uncomely but ex- treamely dangerous toemploy it againft its Maker. Though our obligation toGod be greateft for our fpirituall making, or for making us Saints, yet there is a great obligationupon us for our corporalimaking, or for makingus men. So then as Saints owe themfelves in fpeciall toGod,becaufe he bath fafhioned them by hisWord and Spirit, foall men owe themfelves to God, becaufe he bath fafhioned them in the wombe. And as we are wholy made and fafhionedbyGod (we have not made fo much as a little finger ofour felves,no nor fo muchas a hayre ofour head) fo letus give up our felves wholy to God ; let us take heed of keepingbacke an ewe, or an eye,or an hand fromGod.Tokeepe any one member fromGod, or to give it up to any other, will be as dangerous as the fin of Ananias andSaphira ( Aria 5: ) who kept back a part ofthe price, when they had dedicated it all to L112 God
