Chap.; I. An txpofstion upon the Took of J o B. 25. I, 2, 3. ) Goe to nowyes riskmen, weep and hordefor the mifery that ¡ball come uponyou, your riches are corrupt,&c. You that have not a God, nor a Chrift, nor the pardonoffin to rejoyce in how can you rej >yce in riches which are corrupt, in gold and flyer which are cankered,? The markes ofdivine difpleafure are vifible upon all thefe en oyments, and will you rejoyce in them ? Nay rather as the fame Apo(fle counfets you (lames4. 9.) Be aJ- flifl'edand weeps and mourn foryour laughter/hallbe turned in- to mourning, andyour joy intoheavineffe.'Tis better to turne your mirth into mourning, then tohave it turned into mourning. They who turne their mirth into mourning, may finde comfort after it; But they thatl knownothing but mourning, ahole mirth is tur- ned into mourning. How fad is it for any to rejoyce for a day, who are in a condition which tends to mourning for eternity ? Naked came I out of my mothers_ womb, and naked fhaa I returns ; the Lordgiveth, and the Lord taketh away, bleed be the name ofthe Lord. Hence note. They who doe not rejoycemuch in the poefflon ofworldly things, will art grieve muchat the toffe ofthem,: The reafon why fob had fuch an admirable fpirit ofmoderati- on in his forrow about worldly things, wasfacade he had fuch an admirable fpirit ofmoderatió about his joy in worldly things; he never rejoyced much in having them, therefore he never far- rowed 543'
