Secondly, confider the mifchiefs of this paillon above others : Other paf- fions do but drawmen to evil : but this precipitates them into it ; thofedo but fhake, but this overthrows them. Love is flronger then death , yet anger o- vercomes it;the father in anger forgetshis love to hischild, the childe to his fa- ther, &c. Yea, anger makes a man forget the loveof himfelf : as appeares by chofe , who to fatisfie their anger violently thruft themfelves into imminent dangers ofdeath : Covetoufnefle is a violent paffion, as apppears by thole who venture body and foul to get riches, yet anger makes them hazard the loffe of their effaces , and to fpend all amongfl Lawyerstobe revenged on their ene- mies. Voluptuoufneffe makes menplunge themfelves intó particular pleafures; but choler makes them offo bad a difpofition, that they rejoyce in other mens miferies: It's worfe then envy ; for asenvy deliresto fee any one mi- ferable ,it's choler that procures their mifery. Feare is a cruel tyrant which makes men thrufl themfelves into danger to avoid danger , and to kill them- felves for fear of greater torment, yet anger vanquifheth fear, caufing them,who tremble to feeanother mans wound,contemne their owndeath : fo that as o- ther affeelions lead a man , this draws him : others entice him , this compels him : others make us prone toevil,but this calls us headlong into the gulfof all vvickedneffe. Thirdly, confider the manifold evil efie6ts ofanger whichare produced of it felf, or are caufed from others : As 1.
