2 86 The impediments of Gods kingdome to be prayed againft impropriations and corruption of Patrones. All thefe we are to pray that they may be removed,and a free pafl'age to his word granted. Impediments oppofite to government, are either no government but confufion in the Church and Commonweal; or elfe corrupt government, the ru- lers hindring rather then promoting the kingdome of Chrift. We fee then what we defire when we pray that the kingdom of grace may come : viz. That where it is not it may be ereaed, and where it is it may be continued and enlarged; That he would blefl'e,pre- ferve , and protea his Church : That the Lord would rule and reigne in us by his word and Spirit: That he would effeáually call thofe which belong- ing to his ele6tion are not called : That he would juftifie us by faith, fan6tifie us by the holy Ghoft, and make us and all his meet to be partakers with the Saints in light : That we may more and more feel in our felves the fruits of this kingdome, righte- oufneffe, and peace, and joy in the holy Ghoft : and to this end, That he would give a free paffage to his word, and fend faithfull labourers into his harveft, bleßîng them and their miniftery, and aifo the feed- plots thereof: That he would eftablifh an holy go- vernment in the Church and Commonwealth, and blefl'e the governours, &c.
