Thefe wants then we are to bewail, and thefe graces we are to crave in this petition. Duties inprayer. Further, we are in thefe words taught to perform pá ° cord- thefe duties in prayer : T. That we pray according ing to Gods to Gods will, 'John 5. r +.asking fuch things onely will. as he hath promifed to grant. Otherwife in this pe- tition we pray againft our own defires, namely,that not our will but the will of God may be performed. 2. That in our prayers,efpecially for temporali mat- ters, we do humbly and willingly fubmit our felves to his will, and wholly refigne over our felves to his good pleafure, faying with our Saviour Chriff,Not my will, &c. becaufe we ought to be affured , that as for his wifdome he knoweth what is belt for us, fo alfo for his fatherly love he is moli ready to grant good things unto us, Matth. 7. i i.
