Evangelical: The Evangelicall righteoufneffe is that which what it iS. without theLaw is revealed in the Gofpel,whereby men that are finfull in themfelves, I mean believing fanners, and penitent finners, are accepted of God as righteous in Chriff. And it is twofold : For it is ei- ther imputed to a believing finner, as the righteouf- neffe of juflification, or infufed and fo inherent in a repentant finner, as the righteoufneffe of fandifica- tion. The former is perfect and not inherent, being the righteoufneffe of Chrifl apprehended by faith: The other is inherent but not perfect, being our new obedience wrought in us by the fpirit of regenerati- Mab z.4. on. In refped of the former it is Paid, that the righ- teous man (hall live by his fifth : In refpeC`I of the lat- ter, that he is a righteous man which worketh righ- teoufneffe. And this twofold righteoufheffe muff of neceffitie concurre in the fame partie, &c.
