To which I anfwere, that if any haue fuch husbands, delighted with follieand vanity, their wines haue in this kind greater liberty then other women, becaufe finaller inconueniences are to bee vndergone, that greater may be auoided : but let fuch vnder colour of liber- tie beware of licentioufneffe, and vnder thew of pleating their husbands, let them take heed that they doe not dif- pleafe God, wound their owneconlciences,aud offend their brethren, by wearing filch corny or garifh apparel!, as is either aboue their particular (late and calling; or not be- kerning their generali calling ofchrif+ianity. For howfoeuer they ought to pleafe their husbands rather then firangers, yet they mua labour more to pleafe God thé, them both,yea even hrangets too in that which is good, rather then their husbands in that which is wicked and vnlawfull. But further I admonifh them to take heed lea this bee a meere pretence and falfe excufe,and that they doe not by this brauerie fludy to pleafe their husbands,but rather their own proud humor, yea euen (+rangers themfelues,whilcft they affe& by this bra- uerie their ef+eente and commendations. Finally,let fuch know tharifat all they are conflrained to feeke to pleafe them by thefe vaine orna- ments,it isfor the moli part for want ofbetter things, whet- by they thould be commended.Forifin their behauiourand conuerfaiion they were religious, wife, model+, graue and fober,and towards their husbands weeke, humble, louing, andrefpedliue,they would by thefe vertues and duties pleafe them better, if they haue any religion, confcience, or true wifedome,thenby wearing the gayer + ornaments ; or if they be yet flrangers to the grace of God, they may through his bleffing
