What they propofed to themfelves as the general main end and fcope of their a&ions, whether it was the glory of God, or not. We find much of the faints teftimony of their Confcience, to be founded upon this ; as we may fee here, in Paul, We have bad (fays he) our converfation in the world, and more abundantly to you wards, not with plh'ly wifiiom, &c.
