If thou kneweft thy felfe what thou wert, and haddeft eyes to fee this fnke hole, and what a deale of baggage paireth daily through ir, thou wóuldeft be afhamed ofthy felfe. God is a God of pure eyes,and cannot take any pleafure in evil: And wilt thou then take any pleafure in thy felfe, being evill,and nought but evil ; vea,being but a very fin- king dung -hill ofevill ? Whatfoever thy out -fide may be , be it never fo faire, thy in -fide is naught ; chou art but like one ofthe ÆgyptianTemples,very glorious and beautifuil without,but enterin,and no- thing to be feene, but a Serpent,or fome filch vene- mous creature. Such litters and fwarmes are there in our hearts, of vaine, vile, bale, filthy, and di(ho- rable thoughts, of cftions, delires. Very through - faires are they for Sathans impure fuggeftions to walk up and down in in regard of murtherous and malicious thoughts, very(laughter houfes in regard of unclean lulu, veryfïetres and brothel houf r g in regard of the heat of boyling concupifcence , very hot- houfes, and as the Prophet fpeaketh , like a Ba- kers Oven. Shall any now bragge of his own good nature,or crack with the Pharifee, that he is not fo bad as other men , he is no extortioner, or oppref- four ? &c. Yes, thou blinde and boating Pharifee, thou haft the feeds of extortion and opprefiîon in thee; yea,and of all other finnes betides.
