Now, beloved, where is this holy Spirit to be had but in Chrift ? 1 fay, we are without excufe, if we doe not get the holy Spirit of God, becaufe Chrilt hath -him for us, if we would retort to him, and therefore we can have no plea. Firft, Wee cannot plead, wee have no need of the holy Spirit of God : what need we have him, as long as we be- leeve there is fuck a one ? Is it needfull wee fhould have him ? O, beloved , the Lord hath done this becaufe wee cannot be Paved without the Holy Spirit of God : would wee bee regenerated and born again ; we cannot without the Spirit: That which is born of the Spirit, is Spirit,Joh.3,6. We can never be fpirituall without the Spirit of God : none but fpi- rituall men and women (hall enter into the Kingdomeof God.
