I will give you the divifion of the Words, and fome lhort Analyfis of them. Firft Here is the Perfon whom he prayeth to, that is, God, whom he doth {et forti; under the apprehenfion and notion for.the ftren~thning. of his Faith, for the obtaining of what he asks (as We are alwates to do m Prayer) of the God of our Lord 'Jrf«< Chrij/, a11d the Father if glory. Secondiy, You have the things he prayeth for. For the Spirit of wifdom mzd rrvelatirm i11 the knowlu!gt of God; which (as I /hall open to you,) I take it is in Perfonal Communion with God. 2. That thry might /wow what is the hopr of hu Cal/i,g; what grounds they had to hope for eternal life, that they might fee more clearly into them every day than other, ~· That they might have great and enlarged apprehenfions, worJ(ing in their hearts, and telling of their Spirits of the Riches of Glory which God had laid up for them. Whereas they might look upon themfclves as men, ;md finful ; and how lball we come to this Glory you fpeak of ? fie praycth that they might know the exceeding greatnefs of that Power, .which works in thofe that believe, even the fame that wrought i(l Chrift in raifing him from the dead. And further to encourage tilem, he fetteth forth .'1rfru Chrifi, not only in glory, raifed up by the power of God, and that the fame power is engaged to taife them up; but he ferteth him forth as their Head, in whom therefore they have intere!t, who fate at the right hmid of God i11 the Heavettly placts, (fofaith the 2oth Verfe,) and whofc heah was eng, ged to them; For, (faith he,ver.t~.) you are tbefiJ!tzefJ of Chr:fl, and Chri!t wi!l notlofe one of them. Thot they mrght know all thefe rhrngs, and lrve m rhe comfort of them; this is the fum and matter of the Apoflle's Prayer.
